All “Queen Bee” events benefit NBIA |

The Queen Bee Golf Marathon was blessed again with another perfect day for the event. On September 22, 2008 we held our 3rd “Queen Bee” golf marathon at Piedmont Country Club in Haymarket, VA. The event was held in honor of our “Queen Bee” Brittany Leap to raise money for continued research and awareness of NBIA.
The majority of the golfers have participated in the marathon 3 years running, but there are always a few new faces willing to try and play all day. The group this year consisted of 22 Golfers (17 men, 5 women). They braved the beautiful 75 degree sunny day and attacked the course at 7:30am. Lunch, snacks and plenty of drinks were served throughout the day to keep everyone going. By 6pm nearly all the golfers had completed the 100 hole goal and where more than ready for dinner and awards.
Brittany the “Queen Bee” was on hand for most of the day to have her picture taken with the golfers, hand out snacks and buzz around the course in a golf cart with her helpers.
The hardy crew of golfers was able to raise over $30,000 in pledges.
We can’t say thank-you enough to all those who played, volunteered or helped sponsor the event. It takes a lot of effort on behalf of each of the golfers to raise the pledges (~$1400/average) to allow us to make the goal. But when we wrap up the event, everyone always says, anything for the Queen Bee and NBIA. |
